Idly flicking through the rulebook I can't help but notice that some characters (primarily companions and UNIT) have been rendered a little too able or not able enough in order to simplify the rules. For example, the charmer rules fit Barbara or Sarah perfectly, but not so much the likes of Victoria or Jo who's functions were largely decorational. Equally the scientist rules presumably had Liz Shaw in mind, but they underpower Nyssa and Romana and overemancipate Mel. Would any agree that a revised set of advanced rules would be a good thing?

I sort of agree with that, but the problem is its a VERY subjective thing. While I would agree Victoria had a merely screamy/decorational function. Jo actually did things and achieved tasks in her stories. As for Mel, we didn't really see enough of her to determine where her character was going, you could see they wanted her to be 'more' than what she was (In the Terror of the Vervoids, Mel investigates on her own and she's bossing the Doctor around over diet and exercise, a fairly emancipated approach to a strong dominant character like the Doctor. Also, Mel pretty much does her own thing for much of Delta and the Bannermen, showing she is not totally dependant on the Doctor). Its all based on perspective of the Characters. Drew
